John Jay College

Description

Constructed in 1903 as a public high school and designed by Charles Snyder, this Neo-Gothic building was the largest high school in the City when built. Now the home of John Jay College, the facade was deteriorating and Nicholson & Galloway was contracted for exterior repairs as follows:

  • 1,400 terracotta units replaced
  • Brick and limestone replacement and repointing
  • 9,000 Square feet of masonry chemical cleaning
  • 3,500 Square feet of masonry water mist cleaning
  • 9,000 Linear feet of sealant joint replacement
  • 800 Linear feet of lead coated copper cornice flashing
  • 3 Skylights replaced
