Description

This 12 story landmark residential building was designed by McKim Mead & White and constructed in 1910. In 2011, we were hired to restore the façade and roof. Nicholson & Galloway acted as the General Contractor, Restoration Contractor and Roofing Contractor and performed the following work:

• The 24,000 square foot limestone façade was carefully cleaned and repointed Limestone balustrades were reconstructed and numerous dutchmen were installed
• The ornate terracotta cornice was demolished and a new intricate stainless steel structure was built by us to support the new cornice
• Over 370 new terracotta pieces were fabricated by Boston Valley Terracotta and installed
• Unoriginal asphalt shingles were removed from the existing 7,000 square foot roof and was and replaced with new copper tiles fabricated in our own sheet metal shop. All roof gutters and snow guards were replaced with new
