Description
Commissioned by John D. Rockefeller in 1913, The Oceanus Fountain is a replica of a fountain in the Boboli Gardens in Florence, Italy. The fountain consists of Carrara Marble statuary and Domestic Granite basins. Surrounding the lower granite basins is a ring of large marble paving stones. By 2017, the condition of the paving stones and the waterproofing in the fountain had deteriorated dramatically and repairs were required. Nicholson & Galloway was hired for repairs as follows:
- Removal of 54 large marble paving stones
- Waterproofing under marble paving stones
- Waterproofing inside fountain basin
- 200 square feet of pebble pavement
- Installation of 54 new Alabama Limestone paving stones
