The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine

Originally designed by Architect Heins and LaFarge, the Cathedral was constructed between 1892 and 1941, and is an individual New York city Landmark. The Guastavino dome over the Crossing was constructed in 1909 as a temporary roof but has become permanent. Originally waterproofed with built-up roofing, the Cathedral recently decided to re-roof the Dome with copper, and Nicholson & Galloway was hired to perform the following work:

  • 150 square feet of Guastavino Tile repairs
  • 18,920 square feet of Henry trowel-applied vapor barrier
  • 3,750 stainless steel clips installed
  • 18,920 square feet of Henry spray polyurethane insulation
  • 18,920 square feet of standing seam and batten seam copper roofing
  • 1,400 square feet of standing seam siding
  • 7,000 square feet of Henry liquid-applied fabric-reinforced roofing
  • 460 linear feet of new railings
  • 150 cubic feet of reinforced concrete replacement
