Details: Nicholson & Galloway acted as General Contractor and used all of our own personnel during this rehabilitation project.

Due to the historic importance of the United Nations Complex, all of our new work had to carefully match the original. Prior to any demolition, Nicholson & Galloway carefully

measured all existing elements and took samples of all colors to ensure a perfect match. 13,000 square feet of 4” thick original decorative concrete at the bottom of the fountain was demolished and removed. Following in-house shop drawings, 1,120 pre-cast concrete serpentine curbs were fabricated. The curbs were then installed in the field to act as forms for the cast-in-place concrete.

With large crews on-hand, white concrete and black concrete slabs were poured-in-place in alternate rows to match the original colors. Before the concrete was allowed to set-up, colored river-washed pebbles were manually pressed into the concrete.

In addition to the concrete work, the walls of the tank were stripped and painted and all granite trim was cut out and fully re-caulked.
